Grapefruit

The grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) is a citrus fruit produced by a fruit tree that is widespread throughout much of the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Beneath its golden-yellow rind, this tropical fruit contains pink, very juicy, and fragrant flesh. Refreshing and rich in vitamins, its tangy and slightly bitter pulp is often eaten whole or as juice. Grapefruit water is the natural juice extracted from the center of the fruit. It is extracted under vacuum through evaporation during the fruit’s dehydration process.

The roucouyer is a shrub of the West Indies with pink flowers and whose fruit contains red seeds. The Caribbean Indians crushed these seeds and coated their bodies and faces with them to protect themselves from the sun, sea salt and mosquitoes. Roucou seeds are harvested and then dried.
